Some family trees on Ancestry.co.uk give Thomas' father as George A Welbanks, born 1740 in Yorkshire and died 1800 on Prince Edward Island.
This doesn't match the evidence about Thomas' life. He wasn't accompanied by his father when he moved to Canada, there is no mention of his father in Pioneer Life on the Bay of Quinte. He does not seem to appear in parish records.
