Lawsuit, Hillary sessions, Richmond. John Welbank along with several other men from surrounding villages is charged with trespass against Christopher Boynton. This is presumably most likely to be John Welbank the younger, as John Welbank the elder had recently died in 1444.

There is a suit of Formedon Descender against Christine Welbank widow of John Welbank, and John Welbank, in Richmond. They each are in possession of one messuage in North Coweton, which were held by the late John Welbank for life but on his death should revert to John Laton. It doesn't specify that John Welbank is the son of the late John Welbank, but it seems likely that he is.

In 1468 there is a suit against John Welbank formerly of Northcoueton in Yorks, husbandman, Thomas Welbank formerly of Northcoueton, husbandman, and William Fox formerly of Northcoueton husbandman. The suit is brought in Middlesex, for trespass with force of arms and wounding and beating one John Harryson who lives towards Willesden.

It seems likely that John and Thomas are relatives and possible that John is the son of John and Christine.

There is a follow-up to the formedon descender lawsuit. John Laton has died and Christopher Boynton is occupying the disputed land on behalf of his son Robert Laton. (Christopher Boynton is the son of the Christopher Boynton who sued John Welbank for trespass in 1444).
